Day 6- What does “home” mean to you?
Home. What an incredibly difficult word to define. Encarta’s definition is:
- residence: the place where a person, family, or household lives
- family group: a family or any other group that lives together
- birthplace: the place where somebody was born or raised or feels that he or she belongs
I think its easy to connect feelings and emotions with our own sense of home but I think what changes is the location of ‘home’. If I had to choose a specific location I would say Utah because I have lived here more than any one location.
As for where I get the feelings and emotions of home, now that is a much easier question to answer!
First and foremost my family is my home. I apologize but not only is this a low quality photo but would you believe that more than half of my family is missing! We're a blended family with a total of 2 parents, 9 kids, 6 spouses, and 17 grandchildren with 3 more on the way! Thats a total of 37 family members, doesn't get more Utah than that does it! ha ha
I also feel 'home' when I start seeing my patience and hard work for a dream paying off, when I capture a beautiful moment in a photo, being surrounded by good, happy uplifting people, traditions (thats a big one for me), having dreams and goals (and accomplishing them!), traveling to new places for the first time with friends at Lake Powell, music, especially when its live, micro loans on Kiva.
What is home to you?

Home is a big word for me... I haven't felt that I have been in a place where I have said to myself wow this is home. I have moved around so much that I haven't been able to say that to myself. But hopefully one day I will find that place that I can say that to myself and mean it. But I agree with you on some parts of what you stated. I feel home is close to family. Family is very important to me as well so that is completly understandable! Utah has been a "home" for me for so long that it would be kinda hard to venture out even though I want too.
