Day 8: A favorite food from another country/culture?
Hands down the best ice cream I've had is in... Lithuania! Surprised? So was I! We stayed in Lithuania for a few days and I know we went to this ice cream shop at least 3 times and probably more, trying new flavors each time. Grape was my favorite!
I will say for all the A-mazing foods in Russia they really don't have the ice cream thing down. I tried a few different kinds from the grocery store, on the street and cafes with no luck. However, one delicious alternative that definitely made up for the ice cream shortage... Soroke. They are like mini cheesecakes, some filled with fruits or chocolate and carmel but the best part is they are breakfast food! Seriously! Yum!
In this photo Brittany, Jade and I are eating one of our last sorokes before we were headed back to the US. I was able to track some down at our local Russian market but the choices weren't many and the couple I tried weren't even close to as good as I remember :(
I'm not sure if Soroke is the right spelling thats just the english/phonetic way to spell it but if anyone knows for sure I'd love to find out! I just spent about 20 minutes trying to google and find a picture but couldn't so any help would be appreciated!
